Quick answer: Pool buyers research for months before they call, so post owner-on-camera video, start-to-finish carousels, and project tours under 60 seconds, all year rather than only in summer. For one custom pool builder I manage, TikTok views doubled to 36,000 and engagement grew 507.6% in the 90 days from June 19 to September 16, 2026.
A pool is one of the largest discretionary purchases a homeowner makes. Your social media has to do the work a brochure used to do, and then some.
Why do pool buyers need so much convincing?
Because they're spending a lot of money on something they can't return, installed by a company they just met. Backyard projects are also emotional. People picture their kids, their parties, their summer.
That combination means your content has two jobs: show the finished dream, and prove you can be trusted to get there without wrecking the yard or the schedule.
For the pool builder I work with, the content that carries both jobs is video of the owner talking. It has outperformed everything else on the account. People want to know who they're hiring.
What should a pool builder post?
These three formats do the heavy lifting.
- Owner on camera. Answers "can I trust this company?" before the consult. Top performer on the accounts I manage.
- Start-to-finish carousel. Excavation, plumbing, gunite, tile, deck, water. The timeline sells the process, not just the result.
- Project tour under 60 seconds. The dream shot. Short, finished, and highly shareable.
Then layer in:
- The invisible work. Permits, drainage, freeze protection, equipment pads. Anything the cheap bid skips.
- Design decisions. Why a tanning ledge here, why this tile with that coping.
- Timeline honesty. How long each phase takes and what weather does to it.
- Customer moments. First swim, reveal day, the dog jumping in first.
- Maintenance and service. Keeps you useful to past customers, who refer.
"Pool buyers spend months lurking before they ever fill out a form. If you only post when your crews are busy, you're invisible during the exact months people are dreaming and budgeting." Kelly Noble Mirabella, Fractional Social Media Director and Founder, Stellar Media Marketing
When should you post, and how often?
Post year-round, and plan the calendar backwards from your build season.
For my pool and outdoor kitchen clients, interest spikes from May through September. But that's when buyers are watching, not when they're deciding. The decisions get made earlier.
A simple annual rhythm:
- January and February: design content, planning guides, home show promotion. The Colorado Garden & Home Show runs February 13 to 21, 2027.
- March and April: open the build calendar, push consults, publish last season's best projects.
- May through September: in-progress video, reveal tours, reviews while the job is fresh.
- October through December: service and maintenance content, next-season planning, past-customer referrals.

How do you turn followers into booked consults?
Make the next step obvious and fast.
- Put booking in every bio and every post caption. Don't make people hunt.
- Answer inquiries within the hour. A Harvard Business Review study found companies contacting a lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as those that waited even one more hour.
- Use a chatbot for after-hours messages. One pool builder I work with had a three-person team missing messages for days. We put in an AI chatbot that answers questions, detects when someone wants a quote, and texts the lead to the owner. They stopped missing messages. More on that in Does Your Small Business Website Need an AI Chatbot?
- Ask for reviews at handover. BrightLocal's 2026 survey found 74% of consumers look for reviews from the last three months.
What results should you expect?
Here's what one Dallas-Fort Worth custom pool builder I manage saw on TikTok in the 90 days from June 19 to September 16, 2026, compared with the previous 90 days:
- Views: doubled to 36,000 (up 100.1%)
- Engagement: up 507.6%
- Followers: up 616.7%
Growth like that comes from consistent posting of the right formats, not from luck or trends. And it compounds. Most of my clients stay with me for two years or more, which is roughly how long it takes for a content library to start doing your selling for you.

Frequently asked questions
Which platform is best for pool builders?
Instagram and Facebook for reach and reviews, TikTok for discovery through short video, and your Google Business Profile for people actively searching. Start with two and do them well.
What should a pool builder post in winter?
Design and planning content, last season's project tours, service tips, and early-booking offers. Winter is when homeowners research and budget for spring builds.
How long is the sales cycle for a pool?
Often months. Buyers compare designs, financing, and builders before they commit, which is why consistent year-round content matters more than a summer push.
Should pool builders post prices?
Ranges and cost drivers work better than exact numbers. Explaining what moves the price filters out unqualified leads and positions you as the honest builder.
How many times a week should a pool company post?
Two to three posts a week on your main platform, plus one Google Business Profile post. One of those weekly posts should be the owner on camera.
Do pool builders need paid ads?
Ads can accelerate consults in the booking window, but organic proof does the convincing. Cold traffic checks your profile and reviews before it books.
