Quick answer: Castle Rock and Lone Tree need different playbooks. Castle Rock (83,815 residents, up 14.6% since 2020) rewards community pride, Facebook groups, and events like Starlighting on November 21, 2026. Lone Tree (15,278 residents) runs on Park Meadows shoppers, Sky Ridge medical traffic, and RidgeGate office tenants, so pair Instagram with LinkedIn.

They sit a short drive apart on I-25, but they behave like two different markets. Here's how I'd run social for a business in each one.

‍

How are Castle Rock and Lone Tree different markets?

Castle Rock is a fast-growing family town, and Lone Tree is a smaller, denser hub for retail, healthcare, and offices. The U.S. Census Bureau's QuickFacts for Castle Rock and Lone Tree make the split obvious:

  1. Population, July 1, 2025: Castle Rock 83,815. Lone Tree 15,278.
  2. Growth since April 2020: Castle Rock up 14.6% (from 73,162). Lone Tree up 7.8% (from 14,179).
  3. Residents under 18: Castle Rock 26.1%. Lone Tree 16.7%.
  4. Residents 65 and over: Castle Rock 11.4%. Lone Tree 20.7%.
  5. Owner-occupied homes: Castle Rock 78.8%. Lone Tree 54.5%.
  6. Bachelor's degree or higher: Castle Rock 55.9%. Lone Tree 71.2%.

Read that as a content brief. Castle Rock is homeowners with kids. Lone Tree has more renters, retirees, and professionals, plus heavy daytime traffic from people who come in to shop, work, and see a doctor.

‍

What works on social media for Castle Rock businesses?

Castle Rock social media works best when it plugs into the town's pride in itself. Locals love the Rock and Downtown, and they talk about both in Facebook groups.

The Star on top of the Rock is the clearest example. According to the Town of Castle Rock, it was built in 1936 during the Great Depression to draw visitors, and it holds 100 bulbs. The Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce lists this year's Starlighting for Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Historic Wilcox Square and Festival Park, with the star lit around 5:30 p.m. and fireworks after. The Chamber says it has been a tradition since 1962.

What I'd post for a Castle Rock business:

  • Event content. The Town's Season of the Star runs November 21, 2026 through January 23, 2027, including the Festival Park Starlight Market on December 4 and 5 with more than 40 vendors. Show up, film it, and post the same day.
  • Downtown pride. If you're near Wilcox Street, your storefront is part of the show. Holiday windows and "meet the owner" videos travel well here.
  • Facebook group participation. Castle Rock residents ask for recommendations in local groups every day. Be the owner who answers helpfully, not the one who drops a flyer.
  • Kid and family moments. With more than a quarter of residents under 18, youth sports sponsorships and family offers earn real engagement.

What works on social media for Lone Tree businesses?

Lone Tree social media works best when it targets the people passing through: shoppers, patients, and office workers.

Park Meadows is the anchor. The City of Lone Tree describes it as Colorado's largest mall, open since August 1996 with more than 180 stores, and annexed into the city by voter approval in 2006. An HCA Healthcare overview describes RidgeGate as roughly six square miles planned for up to 10,000 housing units, with Sky Ridge Medical Center on the west side of I-25 as a primary employer. Mile High CRE reports Charles Schwab and Kiewit have campuses there.

Transit ties it together. CBS Colorado reported RTD opened the 2.3-mile Southeast Rail Extension on May 17, 2019, adding Sky Ridge, Lone Tree City Center, and RidgeGate Parkway stations.

What I'd post for a Lone Tree business:

  • Shopper content on Instagram. Frame your business as the stop before or after Park Meadows.
  • LinkedIn for office tenants. Catering, fitness, dry cleaning, and professional services should reach office managers and team leads on LinkedIn.
  • Medical-adjacent content. Families visiting Sky Ridge need food, lodging, and pharmacies.
  • Arts and evenings. The Lone Tree Arts Center, city-owned and open since 2011, draws evening crowds. Restaurants should post pre-show dinner content around its calendar.
"Castle Rock and Lone Tree get lumped together as 'south metro,' and that's where the marketing goes wrong. Castle Rock wants to see you at Starlighting. Lone Tree wants to know you're five minutes from where they already are. One plan can't do both jobs." Kelly Noble Mirabella, Fractional Social Media Director and Founder, Stellar Media Marketing

How do you reach new residents in both towns?

New residents are the best customers to win, because they haven't picked a dentist, a hair stylist, or a pizza place yet. Castle Rock added more than 10,600 residents between 2020 and 2025, and RidgeGate keeps adding rooftops in Lone Tree.

  • Make a "new to Castle Rock" or "new to Lone Tree" series. Trash pickup, school registration, where to see the Star, how the light rail works.
  • Target new movers with ads by ZIP code and radius. Keep it tight to your service area.
  • Fix your Google Business Profile first. New residents search before they scroll. In my last 20 free social media audits for Colorado businesses, 18 had a stale Google Business Profile. Weekly posts there are part of my Essentials package.

‍

What does a monthly social media plan look like here?

A good month mixes local proof, useful content, and one clear offer. Here's the plan I'd use for a Castle Rock or Lone Tree business:

  1. Week 1: Plan around the local calendar. Pull the Town of Castle Rock events calendar or the Lone Tree Arts Center schedule and pick two moments.
  2. Week 1: Shoot a content batch. One half-day of photo and video covers the month. My content and media day is built for exactly this.
  3. Week 2: Publish a new-resident post. One helpful guide per month, pinned. Keep Google Business Profile posts going weekly.
  4. Week 3: Event or community content. Castle Rock: Downtown, Starlighting, Festival Park. Lone Tree: Park Meadows traffic, Arts Center nights, RidgeGate openings.
  5. Week 3: One LinkedIn post (Lone Tree) or one Facebook group answer session (Castle Rock).
  6. Week 4: Customer proof. A review, a before-and-after, or a customer on camera.
  7. Week 4: Report and adjust. Look at saves, shares, calls, and direction requests, not just likes.

That rhythm lands around 12 finished pieces of content a month, which is what my Essentials package delivers. The approach works: for one outdoor kitchen client, Facebook views doubled to 212,000 in 2025, up 100.9% from 2024, with engagement up 51%.

If you also serve nearby suburbs, I broke down the playbook for Parker, CO businesses and for Centennial, from the Tech Center to Southglenn.

Frequently asked questions

Is Castle Rock or Lone Tree bigger?

Castle Rock is much bigger. The Census Bureau estimated 83,815 residents in Castle Rock and 15,278 in Lone Tree as of July 1, 2025. Lone Tree punches above its size thanks to Park Meadows, Sky Ridge, and RidgeGate.

Which platform should a Castle Rock business focus on?

Start with Facebook and Instagram, plus your Google Business Profile. Castle Rock's family-heavy audience responds to event and community content.

Is LinkedIn worth it for a Lone Tree business?

Yes, if you sell to offices or professionals. With major employers in RidgeGate and 71.2% of residents holding a bachelor's degree or higher, LinkedIn reaches decision makers that Instagram misses.

When is Castle Rock Starlighting in 2026?

Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Downtown Castle Rock and Festival Park, according to the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce. The star lights around 5:30 p.m., followed by fireworks.

Can one social media plan cover both towns?

It can share a content batch, but not the same messaging. I'd shoot once and then cut different posts: community and event content for Castle Rock, convenience and professional content for Lone Tree.

How much does social media management cost for a south metro business?

My packages start at $1,200 a month for Essentials, which includes strategy, content production, publishing, community management, and reporting on a 12-month commitment. Fractional director engagements start at $1,500 a month.

Changelog: October 2026, first published.
